Description	:	John Peter Hendrickson, son of Hindrik Jansson and Marja Stina Persdotter, was born December 18, 1835 in Systertrop, Kristdala, Kalmar, Sweden. He died on the 22nd of July 1927, in Essex, Iowa, at the age of 91 years, 7 months, and is buried in the Essex Cemetery. He was confirmed in Sweden and entered into holy matrimony with his spouse Johanna Lovisa Olofsdotter on April 19, 1862 in, Kristdala, Kalmar, Ian, Smaland, Sweden, who died in 1921, and came to this country in 1868. He came to this place, Essex, Iowa, from Red Oak, Iowa in 1877 and joined the Evangelical Lutheran St. John’s congregation the same year. He remained a member of this congregation until his departure from the life. Our father was in poor health for several years and therefore could to attend the Lord’s House, but God had given him a good memory and thus he was able to remember what he had read and heard during this younger days. As long as he was able, he read God’s word in his home. During the last years from 1921 to 1927, he was lovingly cared for by his daughter Hulda. The funeral was conducted first from the home and later from the church, where the pastor preached in the English language. After the funeral sermon, his remains were transported to the congregational’s beautiful cemetery, where the old and broken down are committed to the quiet of the tomb until the resurrection morning. We hope and pray that one day we shall meet our dear parents at Jesus’s right hand. Peace to his memory.
