Chatburn, was born on March 11, 1821 in Lancashire, England, the son of Thomas and Margaret (Ingham) Chatburn, natives of the same place. He was united in marriage on December 25, 1843 to Mary Burton, a native of Lancashire, the daughter of George and Jane (Foster) Burton. Read More	The information below appears to be an obituary. No citation was given. Jonas W. Chatburn, was born on March 11, 1821 in Lancashire, England, the son of Thomas and Margaret (Ingham) Chatburn, natives of the same place. He was united in marriage on December 25, 1843 to Mary Burton, a native of Lancashire, the daughter of George and Jane (Foster) Burton. They came to American from Lancashire, England in the spring 1845, settling in Frankfort, Pa. where Mr. Chatburn was engaged in the printing business and later ran a saw mill and an engine in a woolen factory. In 1850 the family came west with a party of 100 people, and settled near Council Bluffs where Mr. Chatburn purchased a claim. Three years later after working as a machinist in saw mills, he entered 160 acres of land near the place where Magnolia now stands. He was the first person to drive a wagon across the place that is now Magnolia and in 1854 he built the first flour mill in Harrison County. In the manufacture of the first flour in Harrison County. Mrs. Chatburn's veil was used as a bolting cloth. In 1856 Mr. Chatburn brought his family to Shelby County and a year later he built the first mill in Shelby County which was located on the east edge of Harlan. He also built a mill in Shelby which he managed along with his Harlan mill. Mr. Chatburn served as a judge and justice of the peace while in Harrison County and became known as Judge Chatburn. He held various offices in Shelby County also, such as county supervisor and coroner. The names of their six children; Thomas, Jane, Mary Ellen, John, Cecily and George R., one child died in infancy.
