Jonathan was born Dec. 31, 1923, on the family farm south of Drake. Jonathan was the son of Mike and Christina (Gienger) Dockter. The family moved south of Drake for awhile before moving to a farm northeast of McClusky. He received his education in rural schools. He married Verna Murray on June 13, 1947, in McClusky. They lived and farmed at rural Mercer. He retired in 1984. He was a member of McClusky Baptist Church and served on the Holmes Township Board in Sheridan County. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Verna; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenny and Kathy, Dawson, and Timothy, Mercer; three daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Don Schatz, Harvey, Christal and Daniel Haugen, Butte, and Tana and Bob Houser, McClusky; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five brothers, Adam, Mike Jr., Jacob and Benjamin, all of McClusky, and Arthur, Fargo; and five sisters, Frieda Ehrman, Drake, Christine Kauk, Isanti, Minn., Martha Felchle, Goodrich, Mary Axt, Baldwin, and Katherine Seibel, Mountain City, Mont.
