Description	:	Jonathan was born January 31, 1837 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania to the parents Evan and Frances Thompson Britt. He moved to Appanoose County, Iowa as a young man, where he married Sarah A Buck, April 2nd, 1858. To this union was born twelve children, seven boys and five girls. He moved with his family to Osborne County, Kansas,in 1878 and lived on a farm northwest of Bloomington, until 1889, when he moved to Trego County, where he lived until the spring of 1905. Read More	Jonathan was born January 31, 1837 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania to the parents Evan and Frances Thompson Britt. He moved to Appanoose County, Iowa as a young man, where he married Sarah A Buck, April 2nd, 1858. To this union was born twelve children, seven boys and five girls. He moved with his family to Osborne County, Kansas,in 1878 and lived on a farm northwest of Bloomington, until 1889, when he moved to Trego County, where he lived until the spring of 1905. At that time he moved back to Bloomington where he lived until his death, January 6, 1907. Jonathan was a Private Co F 36th Iowa Infantry, Union Army, Civil War. He enlisted December of 1863 and was under the command of Captian William F. Vermilion, Major A. H. Hamilton and General Frederick Steele. He took part in the Arkansas phase of the Red River Campaign,more notably survived the battle of Mark's Mills. The 36th Infantry took the heaviest loss of the battle. He was discharged Aug.8, 1865 at Devil's Bluff, Ark, and returned home to Iowa.
