Journals of Enoch Place, p.1208 Fri. 23. {Mar 1855} - Preached at the house of Mr Joseph Scruton from Ps. 116:15. in C.Point, at the funeral of Mrs Elizabeth Scruton, aged 73 years 8 mo 21 days. She died on the 21st at 4 oclock in the A.M. of a heart complaint after some 15 minutes ilness. She had been a member of the F. W. Baptist church at C.Point over 25 years. She was a daughter of Ebenezer Hanson, Her mother was Patience Varney, a sister to my Father,s first wife. Her first husband was Mr Joshua Rogers, her Second husband Mr Jonathan Scruton. two out of her 6 children, Survive her, and one brother Mr Joshua Hanson. She was a worthy peaceble good woman, and was expecting to die suddenly. Mr D. D. Baxter, and his wife gave me three dollars. God bless them. Mrs Baxter, and her husband have been benevolent to Mrs Baxter,s mother, who has Spent much of her time for years past at their good home in Lowell Mass. Sarah Otis (2) 7/20/1778, daughter of Stephen and Molly (Elwell) OtIS she died after 4/23/1823. M. 2. Elizabeth Hanson Rogers(3) 9/11/1823, in Dover, N. H. She was the daughter of Ebenezer and Patience (Varney) Hanson. This was her second marriage -her first being Joshua Rogers, 3/7/1804, in Rochester, N.H. By her first marriage she had 6 children including Nancy (Mrs. Darwin D. Baxter) and Mary (Mrs. Otis Scruton.) She was born in 1782 and died 3/21 1855, suddenly of a heart ailment. D. 5/15/1847 (4)
