A very large crowd attended the funeral service which was held Tuesday afternoon at the Z. C. B . J. hall in Clutier, following a brief service at the Cizek home. Speaker Joseph Shonka, of Cedar Rapids, conducted the rites. An unusually large number of floral offerings attested to the high esteem in which Mr. Kosnar was held in this and in nearby communities w here he formerly lived. Casket bearers were Frank Kosnar Jr., Joe Kosnar, Charles Dostal, Joe Dostal, Lester Konicek and Edward Konicek, the first four being grandsons of the decedent. Burial was in National cemetery near Vining. Relatives from Marshalltown, Cedar Rapids and from Washington county were among those present at the funeral. Born January 24, 1852, in Bohemia, Mr. Kosnar came to America with his parents, Albert and Mary Rezniack Kosnar, in 1868. The family located first at Richmond, in Washington county, Iowa. In 1872 the decedent came to Tama county and remained as a resident here through the rest of his life. He had worked at the tailoring trade with his father in Europe, but here he worked on farms and at day labor until his marriage, when he began farming on his own account in York township. Mr. Kosnar's marriage to Barbara Ledvina took place February 25, 1878. Ten children were born to this union, of whom only four now are living. Those who survive are Mrs. Fred Cizek, Clutier; Frank Kosnar, Traer; and Albert J. Kosnar and Mrs. Emil Dostal, both of the Clutier community. Three children died in infancy. A son, Edward, died in 1901 a t the age of 5; another, Joe, in 1911 at the age of 27; and still another son, Charles, in 1929 at the age of 47. The decedent's only brother, Vince, died less than two years ago. In 1900 Mr. Kosnar sold his farm in York township and purchased the Oneida township farm on which the Emil Dostal family now live. Later he bought two other farms in this township. Mr. and Mrs. Kosnar retired from active farming and moved to Clutier on October 1, 1926. Mrs. Kosnar died here July 17 of the following year. Mr. Kosnar made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Cizek during most of the last eight years of his life. Mr. Kosnar served as York township assessor for thirty years and was school secretary of Oneida township for twenty years. He was a member of the C. S. A . lodge of Vining and the Z. C. B .
