Description	:	Funeral services for Joseph A. (Joe) Prochaska, 71, of Creighton were held December 12 at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton with Rev. Paul Banitt officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors were by VFW Post #1151 of Creighton. He died December 7 at his home in Creighton. He was born July 23, 1923 at Verdigre to Stephen J. and Minnie (Smolek) Prochaska. He moved with his parents to Camden, NJ for awhile and then returned to Nebraska, farming around the Verdigre and Winnetoon area. Military honors were by VFW Post #1151 of Creighton. He died December 7 at his home in Creighton. He was born July 23, 1923 at Verdigre to Stephen J. and Minnie (Smolek) Prochaska. He moved with his parents to Camden, NJ for awhile and then returned to Nebraska, farming around the Verdigre and Winnetoon area. He graduated from Verdigre High School in 1941 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the South Pacific during WWII and was discharged in April 1946. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1151 of Creighton. He married Lois Brandt on July 23, 1946. He lived most of his married life in the Creighton area, except for ten years in the Elba area from 1951 to 1961. He was employed by Joe Pruss Construction and also did carpentry and cement work. Survivors include his wife, Lois; daughters, Mrs. Rick (Audrey) Southwick of Valley and Mrs. Jason (Rhonda) Gallup, stationed with the U.S. Army in Korea; four sons, Dennis and Richard of Creighton, Randy of Waterbury and Dale of Plainview; three brothers, George of Winnetoon, Leonard of Creighton and Jim of Dakota City; two sisters, Marguerite Beck Olloff of Sioux City and Marcella Domsch of South Sioux City; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
