Description	:	Steve Prochaska, 75, died Friday, April 13 at a Sioux City, Ia. hospital, where he had been a patient for three months. He had been in failing health the past year. He had been a resident of Creighton for 12 years. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at Hengstler's Chapel with the Rev. Charles Oborny of Verdigre officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Stephen Joseph Prochaska was born Aug. 20, 1897 in Czechoslovakia to Josephine and Joseph Prochaska. He came to the United States at the age of 16. He married Minnie Smolek on Oct. 16 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre.... He married Minnie Smolek on Oct. 16 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. Five sons and three daughters were born to them. They farmed near Verdigre until 1940, when they moved to Camden, N.J. They returned six months later to farm in the Verdigre and Winnetoon communities until moving into Creighton in 1961. He is survived by his wife; children, Mrs. Ira (Marcella) Haynes of South Sioux City, Mrs. Joe (Marie) George Jr. of Humphrey, Mrs. Tom (Marguerite) Olloff of Sioux City, Ia., Tom of Pilger, George of Winnetoon and Joe, Leonard and Jim of Creighton; 31 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
