Description	:	Joe A. Sheppard Joe A. Sheppard 86, passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Joe was born at Yakima May 7, 1914 and graduated from Selah High School. Joe came to Sunnyside to work for C. Speck Motors as a mechanic. Shortly there after he met the love of his life, Rosie Luccolini at Walters Drug Store. On March 14, 1941, he married Rosie Luccolini at the Outlook Grange Hall and made their home in Outlook, where he established Sheppard's Automotive Shop and farmed asparagus. Joe was born at Yakima May 7, 1914 and graduated from Selah High School. Joe came to Sunnyside to work for C. Speck Motors as a mechanic. Shortly there after he met the love of his life, Rosie Luccolini at Walters Drug Store. On March 14, 1941, he married Rosie Luccolini at the Outlook Grange Hall and made their home in Outlook, where he established Sheppard's Automotive Shop and farmed asparagus. Joe was well known for his invention of the first horseless asparagus cart and various farm processing equipment. He retired after 30 years as a volunteer of the Outlook Fire Department where he also served as fire chief for many years. H spent many years building and rebuilding model trains. But probably his greatest passion was working as evidenced by the fact that he retired at the ripe old age of 80 and then continued to do some smaller mechanical projects for friends. He loved the challenge of solving unique mechanical problems ad was well known for inventing what could not be found commercially. Rosie and Joe were members of the Horseless Carriage club of Yakima and were owners of a 1910 Overland which Joe found as a "pile of metal" in a riverbed near Spokane and totally restored and drove it in parades and Horseless Carriage tours all over the United States.
