Description	:	Republic County Democrat, June 2, 1915 Joseph Alexander Weir was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, September 19, 1835, and died at his home in White Rock township, Republic County, Kansas, Thursday May 20, 1915 at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 1 day. Mr. Weir came from Pennsylvania to Freeport, Illinois in 1857. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Stewart, February 6, 1862. To this union nine children were born, two girls and seven boys. Read More	Republic County Democrat, June 2, 1915 Joseph Alexander Weir was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, September 19, 1835, and died at his home in White Rock township, Republic County, Kansas, Thursday May 20, 1915 at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 1 day. Mr. Weir came from Pennsylvania to Freeport, Illinois in 1857. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Stewart, February 6, 1862. To this union nine children were born, two girls and seven boys. Mr. Weir came to Republic County in 1880 and bought the farm where he lived at the time of his death. In 1884 he and his family moved to this farm and made it their home. Mr. Weir is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. W.C. Moon of Big Bend township, five sons, W.S., C.C., H.J., and H.L. of White Rock township, and J.D., of Omaha, Nebr., thirteen grand-children and one great grand daughter, all of whom were present at the funeral. The funeral sermon was preached at the home by Rev. G.L. Rarick, pastor of the Scandia M.E. church, Saturday afternoon and interment was mad in McDonald cemetery. Mr. Weir was a public spirited man and never lost an opportunity to assist in anything that was for the betterment of his community, county or state, and leaves a large number of friends to mourn with the bereaved ones. --Courtland Comet.
