Description	:	Joseph Andrew Allsman was born in Wilber, Nebr., on March 30, 1879, and departed this life in Big Spring, Texas, on March 24, 1951, at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 24 days. Read More	Joseph Andrew Allsman was born in Wilber, Nebr., on March 30, 1879, and departed this life in Big Spring, Texas, on March 24, 1951, at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 24 days. In his boyhood he moved with his brother, Eugene and parents to Thayer county (sic), Nebraska. As a young man he joined the Presbyterian church (sic) at Stoddard, Nebr. Later he transferred his membership to The Methodist Church in Chester, of which he was a member at the time of his passing. He was a member of the Woodman of the World fraternal order for 35 years. On January 5, 1905, he was united in marriage with Minnie I. TenBroeck of Chester. To this union three sons and one daughter were born. One son, Willie Eugene preceded his father in death, having passed away in infancy. In the early years of his marriage, he engaged in farming in Thayer county (sic), and later he entered the general mercantile business. From 1922 to 1925 he owned and operated the American Hotel in Chester. In 1927 his health began to fail, and he accepted his suffering with Christian faith. He was a kind husband, a loving father and grandfather. He cherished his many friends. In the fall of 1946, he and Mrs. Allsman moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where they made their home with their son, Everett and family. In November of 1950, they moved to Big Spring, Texas, for his health and to be with their daughter, Wauneta Soldan and family. Although he had been in ill health for several years, his death came unexpectedly. He is survived by his wife; two sons: Everett M. and Marion F. Allsman, both of Falls Church, Virginia, one daughter, Wauneta Soldan of Big Spring, Texas; one brother, Eugene E. of Hastings, Nebraska, three half-brothers: Tobias and George Allsman of Chester and Manning of Munden, Kansas; three half-sisters: Mrs. Ethel Watson of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Eva Spicer of Chester, Nebraska; and Mrs. Hattie Smith of Selah, Washington; five grandchildren: Joyce and Janard Alls-Allsman (NOTE: typed as written in newspaper) of Falls Church, Va.; Kathleen and Paul Soldan of Big Spring, Texas; and Wauneta Kay Allsman of Falls Church, Virginia; and many other relatives and a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at the Chester Methodist Church, Rev. James K. Irwin in charge. Burial was in the Chester cemetery (sic).
