He was preceded in death by his loving wife and our dear mother Agatha (May 19, 1993); his devoted mother and father; sisters Sister Mary Angela, OSB and Katie Feist; brothers Peter, Balthasar, Wendelin, Ben and Pius. He is survived by his admiring sons and daughters-in-law Duane and Dorothy of Traverse City, MI, Ron and Susan of Carson City, NV, Joe and Lydia of Liberty Lake, WA, Chuck (whose wife Annie passed away in 2006) of Custer, SD; and Joe's second wife, Janet, of Spokane. In addition, Grandpa Joe's inspiring legacy is carried on by five grandchildren and eight great-grand- children. They are: Father Patrick Biegler, MSA, of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Newcastle, DE; his sister Monique Ooze, husband Chris and their sons David and Alex of Traverse City, MI; Daniel Biegler, wife Debbie and their son Kevin of Chicago, IL; Leeda Beha, husband Jeff and their daughters Olivia, Emma and Isabella of Spanaway, WA; and Heidi Hankins, husband Chris and their son Parker and daughter Avery of Maple Valley, WA. Joe is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who love him deeply. They include Bud (Dad Peter) and Cathy (Dad Wendelin) who fondly looked upon their Uncle Joe as their second dad, after their fathers died early in life. Our Dad lived his entire life as a devout Catholic who, after he retired, worshipped daily at Mass and prayed the Rosary. He also was a dedicated member of the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi for the last 25 years, and will be buried in the brown habit, white cord and Tau cross of the order. Dad was well known throughout his life as one of the best automobile mechanics in Spokane. He could repair all the parts of any make and model of car: engines, transmissions, ignition and electrical systems, air conditioning, steering mechanisms, front and rear axles, and differentials, and did this work for his relatives and friends until he was 95years old. His sons proudly referred to him as the "Doctor Mechanic". We will miss our dad, uncle, grandpa, and great-grandpa, but we're confident that his soul went straight to heaven to join his beloved wife, Agatha, as well as his parents, and his numerous brothers, sisters, cousins and friends. We want to especially thank our Uncle Pete Brickner and his friend Faye for visiting and helping care for our Dad daily. We also want to thank the wonderful staff at Birch House of Northpointe Retirement Community and Hospice of Spokane for the loving tenderness and care they demonstrated while administering to the needs of our Father. Visitation for Joe will be Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from Noon to 5:00 p.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. His Vigil Service will be Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 15th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 330 E. Boone Ave. Father Robert Fitz, SJ will be the celebrant for all the services. Graveside rites will follow immediately after at Holy Cross Cemetery.
