He was born at Coffeytown, Penn., but emigrated westward in his boyhood and finally settled with his father's family in Fleming, where he was employed in the mines of the Western Coal & Mining Co. Read More	Died At his mother's home in Fleming, Kansas, on October 2d, 1898, Joseph Bell, aged 23 years, 4 months and 26 days. He was the son of Geo. and Jane Bell. He was born at Coffeytown, Penn., but emigrated westward in his boyhood and finally settled with his father's family in Fleming, where he was employed in the mines of the Western Coal & Mining Co. Thirteen months ago, while working in the mines he was caught under a great fall of slate and was so severely injured in his spine that he never recovered --- but during all these months of suffering and helplessness he bore his afflictions uncomplainingly until death relieved him of his intense suffering. Joe was a good boy, quiet and inoffensive, and none knew him but to love and respect him. He leaves a widowed mother, three sisters and four brothers to mourn his early departure. His funeral occurred at the home of his mother on Oct. 5th attended by a very large concourse of relatives and friends who tenderly laid him away in the Cherokee cemetery to rest.
