Mr. Joseph C. Rawls, who was born in Pitt County, North Carolina, May 18, 1887, died Wednesday of last week in the Ft. Howard Veterans Hospital Baltimore, after an illness of six weeks.

He served twelve years in the U. S. Army and retired in 1955 after twenty years with the civil service from the U S. Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Va.

He was married September 23, 1918 to the former Miss Annie Mary Betts of Crisfield, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Russell C. Rawls, retired C.P.O., U.S. Navy, of Riverside, Calif.
