Notarized Statement by Orval Hill dated 10/31/1952 However, he appears to be the Joseph Dotson in the 1840 census, so it is possible that the stone was read wrong, and it is now unreadable. Joseph's wife was Nancy Ann Carey, born in Maryland, daughter of Michael Carey. She and Joseph were married 8 Feb 1821 in Harrison County (W)VA. She is found with her children Michael age 26, Owen age 23, Eveline age 19, Samuel age 17, Margaret age 15, Lucinda age 12 and Joseph age 9 in the 1850 census of Newport, Washington County, Ohio. This may be where she died although we have no record of her death.
