| Description | : | Joseph was the middle child of three children born to William & Jane Johnston. His older brother was William Henry "Harry" Johnston and his younger sister was Margaret "Maggie" Johnston. On June 12, 1901 Joseph married Margaret Anne Little, the daughter of William and Hannah Little. Eleven days after his marriage, Joseph was killed in an accident during a barn-raising at his brother-in law's house (Samuel H. Shields) on Lot 30, Concession 2, W.H.S. Mono.
