Description	:	The Otoe Union: Joseph Ellis West was born in Decatur, Ohio, January 22, 1867, and died at his home in Unadilla March 13, 1921, aged 54 years, 1 month, and 21 days. He came to Nebraska in 1888, and on Feb. 20, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Lucas. To this union four children were born, Harvey, George, Marjorie, and Nellie, all of who survive him. He came to Nebraska in 1888, and on Feb. 20, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Lucas. To this union four children were born, Harvey, George, Marjorie, and Nellie, all of who survive him. He also leaves to mourn his loss four grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Helen Beasley and Mrs Vina Edenfield, both of Russelville, Ohio, two brothers, Rufus and George West, also of Russelville, and a large circle of friends, both in Ohio and Nebraska. Mr. West was a man of sterling qualities; he was a devoted husband, a kind and indulgent father, and an obliging and helping neighbor. To know him was to respect him, and the entire community extend sympathy to the wife and family in the loss of such a good man. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternoon and were conducted by the Rev. Smith of the Christian Church. A large crowd was in attendance to do honor to the last sad rites of this man and friend and to sympathize with the sorrow stricken family. A male quartet furnished several special numbers. A large profusion of flowers bespoke the esteem and love he was held. Interment was made in the Unadilla cemetery.
