Joseph married Mary Louisa Urick on 26 October 1876 in Illinois. they were the parents of 6 children: Floyd, died in infancy 24 Oct 1893; Olive Kopp, born about 1891; Florence Kopp, born about 1901 & died 16 August 1981; Alice Viola Kopp, married Ray Bamsey and died in 1923; Samuel J. Kopp, livied in Indianola and had 4 children; and one child not listed. "Joseph Kopp" "Early Settler Of Audubon County Dies At Home Here Sunday Morning" "Joseph Kopp, long-time resident of Audubon county, died early Sunday morning at the age of 92 years. Mr. Kopp had been in good health until just one year prior to his death when his health broke. Although he did not suffer during the past years, he was unable to be active and take his daily walks to town. His health continued to fail and he quietly passed away just one year following his confinement to his home." "Born in Illinois"--"Jospeh Kopp was born in Peoria, Ill. on October 3, 1852, the son of Rev. Christopher and Catherine Kopp. On October 26, 1876, he married Louisa Urick at Lorraine, Ill. and the couple settled in that vicinity for three years." "To County in 1879"--"Early settlers of Audubon county, they came to Viola township in 1879 and settled on a farm. A few years later, Mr. Kopp purchased a farm one mile east of Audubon and lived there with his wife and family until his retirement." "He and his wife moved to their new home on First avenue in 1914, where he resided until the time of his death. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1926 and in 1928 Mrs. Kopp died." "Preceding him in death besides his wife are a son, Floyd, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Alice Viola Bamsey who died in 1923." "Survivors"--"Survivors are: one son, S.J. Kopp of Indianola; two daughters, Olive Mae Bamsey of Audubon and Florence Kopp of Coon Rapids. Also eight grandchildren: Mrs. Harlan Klever, Des Moines; Alice Louise Bamsey, Audubon; Mrs. J.C. Parrott, Jr., Newport, R.I.; Raymond Bamsey, Prisoner of War in Germany; Mrs. Wm. Haslup, Ft. Riley, Kans.; Mrs. Earl Lucas, Texas; Lieut. W.J. Kopp, Cleveland, Ohio; and Alyce Mae Koop of Indianola; and two great grandchildren, Gary Earl Lucas and John C. Parrott, III. Other survivors are a brother, O.S. Kopp of Peoria, Ill. and a sister, Mrs. Fred Shoemaker of Geneseo, Ill." "Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, September 12, at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Gordon I. Zimmerman, pastor of First Presbyterian church, conducted the services at the McFadden Funeral home. Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery."
