"The Advocate Republican", Audubon IA, Thursday, April 19, 1928: "Mary Louisa Urick Was born May 31, 1855 at Spring Hill, Illinois and died April 15, 1928 at Dr. Wyatt's hospital at Manning, [IA] aged 72 years, 10 months and 14 days. On October 26, 1876 she was united in marriage to Joseph Kopp. Four years later Brother and Sister Kopp settled in Viola township, Audubon county. In 1889 the family moved to Audubon where they have since resided. This union was blessed with six children, two of whom died in infancy and Mrs. Alice Viola Bamsey, who died in 1923, leaving four children, Gertrude, Alice Louise, Florence May, and Raymond Bamsey, who have since made their home with Brother and Sister Kopp, Samuel J. of Indianola, Olive and Florence Kopp of Audubon. Beside the above mentioned children and grandchildren, there are four more grandchildren, Olive Louise, Beulah Lorraine, Wendel Joseph, and Alice May Kopp, son and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Kopp, a brother , Jacob Urich of Denver, and two half brothers, Louis and David Urick of Geneseo, Illinois, and a son-in-law Ray Bamsey who mourn the loss of Sister Kopp." "When quite young Sister Kopp united with the Evangelical church in Henry county, Illinois, transferring her membership to the Viola Mt. Zion church. After settling in Audubon, she with her husband became members of the Bethany Evangelical church. Sister Kopp with Rev. J. H. Yaggy were among the first solicitors for funds to build this church. Sister Kopp spent many delightful days acting as steward and in other offices of the church." "In the home she was a loving mother ready always to serve, thinking of others rather than herself, and as her son has truly said, "She was a home woman always." In late years she suffered much, and in her weakened condition, the cares of life were often exhausting and almost too much for her to bear, but never would she cast the burden on other shoulders who stood ready to help." "Her neighbors and companions will miss a true friend, her husband a loving companion's cheer, her children and grandchildren the counsel and advice of a mother." "The funeral was conducted by Rev. A.L. Walker in the Evongelical church Tuesday afternoon, April 17, 1928."
