Read More	The Anthon Herald, 28 September 1932, page 1: Joseph Francis Roark, a resident of the Anthon community practically all his life, died suddenly about 12:30 p.m. Saturday in his room at 3409 Fourth Avenue, Sioux City. Although he had been in ill health the past fifteen years, Mr. Roark did not become seriously ill until Friday evening, and he passed away during the noon hour the following day. Heart disease brought about his demise at the age of 45 years, 9 months and 4 days. Born in Lucky Valley December 20, 1886, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Roark, the deceased was reared by his aunt, Miss Kate Roark, from the time he was two years of age. He attended the Anthon Public School and Anthon High School. For some years he worked on farms but when ill health overtook him at a comparatively young age, Mr. Roark could not do the heavy farm work and resorted to painting, sign writing and similar work, at which he was handy. Anthon was his home until a year ago, when he went to Sioux City to reside. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sadie Roark of Sioux City, his mother, Mrs. Frank Jones of Anthon; four brothers, John, William and Edward Roark and Walter Jones, all of Anthon; four sisters, Mrs. Henry Fey of Correctionville; Mrs. Lou Fey of Anthon; Mrs. Otto Herbold of Kingsley and Mrs. Harry Michaelson of Moville; a number of uncles and aunts, including Miss Kate Roark and Mrs. J.O. Jerman of Anthon. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon, Rev. Fr. D.K. Hurley, officiating. Burial was in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery.
