Description	:	Joseph F. Keehn, a resident of Hawarden most of the time for the past seventeen, years, died about 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Barton in the west part of town where he had been cared for during the past four weeks. His death was due to enlargement of the heart and kidney complications. He had been in failing health for the past few years and during the last few months had failed rapidly so that the end, which came peacefully as he slept, was not unexpected. Keehn, a resident of Hawarden most of the time for the past seventeen, years, died about 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Barton in the west part of town where he had been cared for during the past four weeks. His death was due to enlargement of the heart and kidney complications. He had been in failing health for the past few years and during the last few months had failed rapidly so that the end, which came peacefully as he slept, was not unexpected. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Ross Funeral Home with Rev. G. A. Patterson, pastor of the Baptist church, in charge. Interment will be made in Grace Hill cemetery. Joseph Francis Keehn was born at Freeport, Il., Feb. 3, 1866, and died at Hawarden May 7, 1930, at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 4 days. As a young man he accompanied his parents and other members of the family to Plymouth county, Iowa, where he lived for years on a farm ten miles west of LeMars. He followed the barber trade for a long time and for a number of years operated a barber shop at Ida Grove. He was married while a resident of lda Grove and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Thompson of Murphy, Calif., and two sons, Dewey Keehn of Sacramento, Calif., and Ross Keehn of Hawarden. One son passed away at the age of 22 years and one daughter died in infancy. He also leaves five, grandchildren and four brothers and two sister, Thos. Keehn of Parker SD and Chas. Henry and John and Misses Katherine and Mary Keehn all of Hawarden. Mr. Keehn came to Hawarden in 1913 and with the exception of a year or two spent in California and a year or more at Hospers, Iowa, where he operated a billiard hall, has continued to make his home here. During his years in Hawarden he either was employed in or operated a billiard hall until the past two years during which time his health has not permitted him to engage actively in business.
