She was taken ill on the Saturday preceding her death and her condition quickly became critical. Katherine Margaret Keehn was born In Freeport, Ill., Feb. 22, 1872 and died in Hawarden May 8, 1931, at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 16 days. When 12 years of age she accompanied her parents to Plymouth county, Iowa, and they located on a farm about eight miles west of LeMars. After living on the farm just a few years she went to LeMars where she attended school for three years and then continued to make her home in that city. About twelve years ago she came to Hawarden to make a home for her brother, John A. Keehn, and care for his daughter, Ruth Keehn who was left motherless thirteen years ago when only a few days old. During these twelve years she has been a mother to this niece, caring for the home and providing the home environment and influence so necessary during her niece's infancy and young girlhood. During these years she showered upon her the same tender love and care that a mother would have given. Besides her niece in the home she is survived by one sister. Miss Mary Keehn, who also made her home with her, and four brothers, Charles, Henry and John Keehn, and Tho., Keehn of Parker, S.D. One brother, Joseph Keehn, passed away just a year ago on May 7th. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Hawarden at 10 o'clock Monday morning, conducted by Rev. Father C.P. Conway. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery here in a grave beside her mother, who passed away July 13, 1923. Six of her nephews, Lee, Ray, Robert, Lloyd and Ross Keehn of Hawarden and Ralph Keehn of Parker, S.D., acted as pall bearers. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral included Thos. Keehn and son Ralph of Parker, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Felker of Ramona, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Heubsch of Westfleld, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Russell and daughter Minnie, Mr. and Mrs. R.J.
