Description	:	Joe G. Blazek Joe G. Blazek was born December 17, 1899 on a farm near Prescott, Iowa where he resided for 74 years and passed away January 11, 1981 at the age of 81. Read More	Joe G. Blazek Joe G. Blazek was born December 17, 1899 on a farm near Prescott, Iowa where he resided for 74 years and passed away January 11, 1981 at the age of 81. He was the son of Edwin and Anna Mudra Blazek. He grew up in a family with two brothers and two sisters. On October 6, 1926, he was united in marriage to Emma H. Schroder in the Fontanelle Lutheran Parsonage. To this union was born three children, Robert Earl who died in infancy, Burton Dean and Joann Carol. Farming was the center of his life. Because of this, he loved the soil. He came to acquire a green thumb and even after moving to Creston, he still had a beautiful garden the last summer of his life on earth. Another of his loves was children and was known in the community by many as "Uncle Joe". His grandchildren were the center of his life and he taught them to love nature and the great outdoors. Joe & Emma moved to Creston in December of 1973 where they have since resided at 311 North Division. On October 6, 1976 they celebrated their 50th anniversary. He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister Albena Young of Prescott, infant son Robert. He is survived by his wife Emma, his son Burton, his wife Connie and two children, Mark & Karen of Creston, daughter Joanne Weis and her husband Harry and four children, LuAnn, Linda, Lana & Jerry of Eldridge. Two brothers, Charles & Rudolph of Prescott and a sister Lillie Gibson of Corning. Funeral services were held at the Coen Funeral Home in Creston, January 14, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dale Cunningham officiating. The active pallbearers were Earl Young, John Blazek, Louis Blazek, Ed Blazek, George Williamson and Vern Maeder. The honorary pallbearers were Harry Schlapia, Dale Burich, Wayne Victor, Clifford Rice, William Duben and Chet Truman.
