Havlik and Mrs. Louis Straka, of David City, died at the home of his son John on Tuesday, March 19, at an advanced age. He was in his 80th year. He had been in feeble health for some time and seriously ill since last Christmas. The funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic church this (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock. Requiem high mass was sung by the pastor, Rev. Father Caraher. The funeral sermon was delivered in Bohemian by Vicar General Klein, of Brainard. The pall-bearers were John Becak, M. J. Bouse, E. J. Dworak, J. C. Havel, Joseph Shramek and John Styskal. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. Mr. Havlik was born in Kacerov, Bohemia, July 25, 1832. He was married there Sept. 24, 1860, to Miss Katherine Slach. Seven children were born to them, three of whom, two daughters and a son, preceded their father to the other world. Coming to the United States, Mr. Havlik and family resided for a time in Braidwood, Ill. They came to Nebraska some years ago and resided for some time in Saunders county. Mr. Havlik had been a resident of David City since 1906. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic church. Mrs. Havlik and four children, two sons and two daughters, survive Mr. Havlik, also a sister, whose home is in Germany. The surviving children are Mrs. Louis Straka and John L. Havlik of David City, Joseph H. Havlik of Great Falls, Mont., and Mrs. Wilber Garlow of Mitchell, Neb. ____________ CARD OF THANKS - To Friends and Neighbors who were so kind during the illness and at time of death and funeral of our beloved husband and father we extend our heartfelt thanks.
