KATHERINE HAVLIK Mrs. Katherine Havlik, mother of Mrs. Louis Straka and John L. Havlik of David City, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Straka, Saturday, August 21st, 1915. She was in her 81st year. She had been failing for some time and seriously ill since Sunday. Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic Church Monday morning, August 23rd, at 9 o'clock. Mass was said by Rev. Father Boll of David City. The pall bearers were Michael Holland, J. P. Tomek, John Becak, M. J. Bouse, Michael Medinger and August Miller. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery by the side of her husband. Mrs. Havlik was born in Kacerov, Bohemia, October 25th, 1835. Her maiden name was Katherine Slach. She was married there to Joseph Havlik September 24th, 1860. Eight children were born to this union, four of whom, two daughters and two sons, preceded them to the other world. Coming to the United States they resided in Braidwood, Illinois, for a time. Some years ago they came to Nebraska and resided on a farm in Saunders County. Mrs. Havlik was a resident of David City since 1906. Surviving Mrs. Havlik are four children, two sons and two daughters. They are Mrs. Louis Straka, John L. Havlik of David City, Joseph H. Havlik of Great Falls, Montana, Mrs. Anna Garlow at Morrill, Nebraska. She has 21 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
