Description	:	Joseph Henery Specht was the son of Noah Specht and Rebecca vore. He married Louisa Annette Coulter Dec. 28th, 1881 in Marshall County Iowa. Death was caused by cardic dropsy. Joseph H. Specht was born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania Jan. 31, 1858. the son of Noah Specht and Rebecca (Vore) Specht. He was brought to the Conrad community by his parents when he was 7 years old. He married Louisa Coulter, Dec. 28, 1881. He is survived by Mrs. Specht and nine of his twelve children. The children are, George Specht of Oskaloosa; Alva, Joesph W, Louis J. , Beulah and Carrie all at home, and Mrs Claude Essen and Mrs Haswell Rucker, Cresco iowa. He is also surviived by two brothers. William S. Specht St. Louis Mo. and George W.Specht marshalltown. Burial in the Conrad cemetery, Conrad Iowa. Joseph H. Specht who was born in the old Keystone-State in January 31, 1858 and who is the son of Noah Specht and Rebecca (Vore) Specht, both natives of Somerset County Pennsylvania; there early lives, received their early education and were married. In 1865 they emigrated to the newly settled state of Iowa, locating in Marshall county and began forty acres of land in Liscomb Township which their son Joseph H; of this review now owns and where the father lived until his death in February 1897, the mother having died in 1893. They were parents of four sons and 2 daughters, of whom three sons are now living. Noah Specht was a hard working and a good farmer and became well fixed here, owing, in time two hundred acres of excellent land. Politically, he was a Democrat and his were members of the German Baptist Church. Joseph H. Specht was reared on the farm and educated in the public schools. Beside farming he has been a veterinary surgeon for several years and has very successfully in this line, having kept abreast of the time in the science and being by nature an excellent judge of a horses. He has a diploma permitting him to practice in Iowa. He is widely known as a breeder of road horses for sale always finds a ready owning some fine ones. What live stock offers for sale always finds a ready owing to their superior qualities. Politically. he is a Democrat and for a number of years He has been a school director in his district. In December 1881 Mr. Specht was married to Louise Coulter a native of Marshall County, born in Liscomb Township November 1865 she is the daughter of Samuel and Maria (Bash) Coulter, the father was born in Mercer County Pennsylvania in 1823 and the mother in the same vicinity in 1831. They spent their youth attended school and married. There they came to Jackson County , Iowa in 1855 making the long overland trip in wagons, and begin life there in pioneer fashion, but less than a year they came to Marshall County buying eighty acres of land in 1856. Prospering here by reason of hard work and prospering management . Mr. Coulter became the owner of fine farm of two hundred and forty acres, having still own this place, but for twenty-three years he had retired in a commodious home in Conrad. He and his wife have traveled through the sunshine and shadow of life's uneven road for a period of sixty-three years, having been married on June 13, 1846. They are a fine couple whom everyone highly esteems for they have led noble lives and many acts of kindness and charity may be attribute to them. Thiers has always been a home noted for hospitality and true friendship. Ten of the eleven children are living .
