Inurnment will follow in the family plot of Mount Olivet Cemetery. Joseph died Jan. 3, 2009, in Kirkland, Wash. He was born in Anaconda on April 25, 1950, to Joseph Theodore and Caroline L. Gorshe at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, in St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the family plot of Mount Olivet Cemetery. Joseph died Jan. 3, 2009, in Kirkland, Wash. He was born in Anaconda on April 25, 1950, to Joseph Theodore and Caroline L. (Metcalfe) Gorshe. Joe attended St. Peter’s Grade School, Anaconda Central High School, and graduated from Anaconda High School with the class of 1968. He then attended technical school in Denver. In 1969, he was inducted into the Army and served in the Vietnam War; he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal Combat Medic Badge. Upon his return from Vietnam, Joe traveled extensively abroad, then attended and graduated from Deree University in Athens, Greece. After graduation, he returned to his beloved Montana and worked at Galen State Hospital. Joe then moved to Washington state, where he began employment with the Washington Department of Economic Services and was employed there at the time of his death. He had 29 years of service with the state of Washington. Joe was an avid motorcycle (Harleys) enthusiast and looked forward to the Sturgis trips with his good buddy, Fred Vanisko, who is now deceased, and his son, Jason. Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to Mary Beth Hess Nursing Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Hospital of Anaconda, 401 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711 or to the donor’s choice. Survivors include two daughters and families, two sons, sister, cousins, very special friend [survivors names omitted]. Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Caroline Metcalfe, and John and Anna Gorshe; parents, Joe and Caroline “Sis” Gorshe; cousin, Mary Beth Hess, all of Anaconda; and all his aunts and uncles.
