Mr. Dohmen suffered a stroke of paralysis three hours previous to that time and passed on without regaining consciousness. The Creighton man had not been in the best of health the past two years. The deceased was born in Germany on June 24, 1860 and died at Creighton, Nebr. on February 17 1941 at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 23 days. At the age of 18 he came to America with his parents and located at St. Bernard, Nebr., where he filed on a homestead. At that place, he was united in wedlock to Ann Hermann on April 17, 1888. Eleven children came to bless this union. After residing on a farm seventeen years in the vicinity of St. Bernard, they came to Creighton and located on a 320 acre farm southwest of Creighton, which Mr. Dohmen acquired. There he and his wife lived until 12 years ago, when they retired and moved to town. He built a comfortable home on the north side and has been living there up to the time of his death. He still owns this farm, which is now operated by his son, Andy. During his thirty-six years of residence in Creighton and vicinity, Mr. Dohmen made a large number of friends and he was considered square and upright in all his dealings. He experienced all the hardships and failures incident to a farmer's life, but never lost faith in the future of agriculture. Besides the widow, he is survived by five daughter, Mrs. Ben Neyens, Colome, S.D.; Mrs. Peter Neyens and Mrs. Ed Novetny, Winner, S.D.; Mrs. Harold Randall, Creighton and Sister Gertrudine, Sioux City, Iowa; four sons, Andy of Creighton and John, William and Leo of Colome, S.D.; two brothers, Nicholas Dohmen, Humphrey; Anton Dohmen, Columbus, Nebr. and one sister, Mrs. Christine Wegener of Omaha and 29 grandchildren. Two daughters preceded Mr. Dohmen to the great beyond, one dying at the age of a year and a half and Mrs. Helen Randall, nearly five years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Dohmen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1938 and their children were home for the observance. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Ludger Catholic church. Monsignor Nicholas Wegener of Omaha will be celebrant of Solemn Requiem High Mass and he will be assisted in the services by the church pastor, Rev. Father Windolph and a priest from a neighboring parish, who has not been selected. Rev. Wegener is a nephew of Mr. Dohmen.
