Description	:	Mr. J. McCullom Price, one of the best known citizens of the county, died at his home at the old Phifer mine in Vance township, at 11 o'clock Monday morning. He had been suffering with dropsy since last February, but was not thought to be in danger, and his death was a surprise. His son, County Commissioner H. L. McCullom Price, one of the best known citizens of the county, died at his home at the old Phifer mine in Vance township, at 11 o'clock Monday morning. He had been suffering with dropsy since last February, but was not thought to be in danger, and his death was a surprise. His son, County Commissioner H. L. Price, was attending a meeting of the commissioners when informed of his father's death. The remains were buried at Wesley Chapel graveyard today, the funeral being conducted by Rev. W. R. Ware. The deceased was in his 78th year, having been born on the 17th of December, 1828. On the 15th of March, 1855, he was married to Miss Sarah E. McNeeley, who died about ten years ago. He is survived by two sons, Mr. H. L. Price and Rev. J. M. Price of the Western North Carolina conference, now stationed at Mocksville, and four daughters, Mesdames V. C. Redwine of Monroe, Ella Porter of Mineral Spring, Fannie Clark and Minnie Howie of Sandy Ridge, and by his brother, ex-Sheriff A. J. Price. The deceased was born six miles east of Monroe. At an early age he connected himself with the Methodist church and was a faithful member throughout his long life. Mr. Price was one of the very best men in the county. He was a good man and citizen in every sense of the word. No man had the respect and confidence of those who knew him to a greater extent. He was a well to do man and accumulated a good deal of property, which he had largely given to his children some time before his death. He feared God and loved mankind.
