Description	:	The Goldendale Sentinel, Aug. 23, 1934: Joseph O. Young was born in Washington County, Oregon on Feb. 4th, 1857, and when 18 years of age he came to Klickitat County where he resided on railroad land east of Goldendale for 18 years. This land was forfeited to the Government and Mr. Young then filed on it as a homestead. Young was born in Washington County, Oregon on Feb. 4th, 1857, and when 18 years of age he came to Klickitat County where he resided on railroad land east of Goldendale for 18 years. This land was forfeited to the Government and Mr. Young then filed on it as a homestead. He lived on this place until his death which occurred on August 18, 1934 at the age of 77 years 6 mo. and 14 days. On January 9, 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Eliza M. Myers, to which union seven children were born, five of whom survive. Mr. and Mrs. Young celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on January 9th of this year. He was one of the very substantial members of his community, a farmer of progressive and modern ideas and a man of sterling worth and exalted character. He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted wife and five children; Mrs. Bessie Tobin, William J. Young, John M. Young all of Goldendale, Wash., Mrs. Della Ward of Toppenish, Wn. and Mrs. Nell Sarsfield of Wishram, Wn., fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Chapman Chapel, Tuesday, Aug. 21st at 2 o'clock P.M. with Elder S.C. Eshelman officiating. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F.
