Read More	Family Record of Joseph & Caroline BALCH Patrick Joseph Patrick, born on April 9th 1865, Oxford, Jones County, Iowa to James David Patrick, of Cork County, Ireland, & Sarah Ann MCCLURE Patrick, of Shelby County, Ohio. He was the 11th of 13 children. Growing up on a farm, he learned the value of struggle and hard work. With his family, they all worked the lands which helped to provided for a large extended family and friends. After the passing of his parents, they continued to do the same and eventually the farm became known as "The Patrick Farm". The family was well known and Joseph, was in his later years, fondly known to residents as "Old Joe". On October 24, 1890, he was united in marriage to Caroline Harriet Balch, daughter of Orrin Balch & Hannah Adelade BURDICK Balch. Of this marriage were six children, having daughter LaVonne pass before him. Joseph, and his Patrick family, lived in Greene County and he farmed the lands with his siblings until his death on November 18, 1938. The Patrick brothers took over the farm and continued to farm the lands, with their families, until they too had passed. Carrie (Caroline) moved in 1938, to mourn the loss of her husband and live in Canon City, Colorado, with her daughter Mrs. Bess (Karl) Pinnell, until her passing in 1957. By this time all of the children had married and began to migrate to various parts of the US, raising their own families with strong values and work ethics that were so commonly learned from those who came from the farmlands of the Mid-West. At the time of his death he was survived by my great-grandmother Caroline, and their two sons, Bert Edgar (Muriel) Patrick (my grand-parents), Clifford Floyd Patrick, and three daughters, Mrs. Eva (Art) Manhart, Mrs. Vivian (Forrest) Wilson and Mrs. Bethel Bess (Karl) Pinnell and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. -+- NOTE: Our family records show only six children, although grave photo's found in my records show an infant, born and died in 1910, and buried next to LaVonne. Joseph's headstone shows 1864 as date of birth, his son Bert's family records show as April 4, 1865. He was laid to rest at the Paton Twp Cemetery, Paton. Many family members are at Paton Twp Cemetery. -+-
