Kimbrough, 78, who died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday at his home on west Eight Street, were conducted at the Fessler & Sutphen Funeral Chapel, Thursday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. G. A. Arthur, pastor of the Advent Christian Church of Villisca. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Mr. Kimbrough had been ill only a short time at the time of his death. Mitchell, and the Rev. G. A. Arthur, with Mrs. G. A. Arthur at the piano. Joseph Robinson Kimbrough was born August 19, 1856 in Carthage, Illinois. From there he moved to Indian and later to Mount Pleasant, Iowa, where he lived for a time before moving to Burlington. He began his work as roadster for the Burlington railroad at Burlington and was promoted to yardmaster there. In 1905, Mr. Kimbrough was severely injured near Nodaway while working on the railroad and when again able to work, he secured a position with the railroad at Hammond, Indiana and later accepted work with the Omaha and Council Bluffs Street railway company in Omaha. In 1920, after resigning his position with the street railway company, he began farming near Villisca and about four years ago he moved into town where he resided until his death. He was united in marriage with Miss Susan Nixon at Dallas City, Illinois and to this union four daughters were born, the eldest of whom died in infancy. Mr. Kimbrough is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Taylor of San Francisco, California, Mrs. Frank Butler and MRs. Frank Selley of Villisca. Three brothers, Bert of Carthage, Illinois, Charles of Hammond, Indiana, and Jack of New York, and three grandchildren, Keith Taylor and Mrs. Susan Cole of San Francisco, and MRs. John Dunn of Villisca. Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Kimbrough of Hammond, Indiana, Bert Kimbrough of Carthage, Illinois, Gus T. Nixon of Lomax, Illinois, and Ed Nixon of Dallas City, Illinois. Villisca Review, October 26, 1934, page 5
