Read More	The deceased, Joseph Sudol, was born March 10, 1886, at Monona, Clayton County, Iowa. Two weeks later his parents, Jacob and Mary Sudol, had him baptized into the Christian faith in the Catholic church at McGregor, Iowa. Our pastoral records show that he was confirmed in our Lutheran church as an adult on Dec. 13, 1925, with a class of six which included Scott Channer, Bassett, Ray Wadey, Roy Harnisch, Albert A. Meyer and Mrs. Morris Wolf. On Feb. 11, 1925, thirteen years and one day before his death, he was united in holy wedlock to Emma Wilhelmina Vollbrecht of Plainfield. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Florence, who with her mother survive him. He resided two years at Marquette, six years at Chicago and later at Monona, his birthplace. The rest of his life was spent here in our community. Our Christian brother in the faith suffered for over a year with a disease which caused his death. During this time medical aid treatments at Rochester and a operation at New Hampton gave reason to believe that the Lord would give him strength to recover. This confidence was evident in the cheerful and patient manner in which he bore his suffering and trustingly submitted to the hand of the Almighty Physician. Through it all he was mindful of the fact that there was a Greater Will which surpasses human understanding and that in answer to prayer God saw him through a critical operation in October and again gave him strength to live through the day of their thirteenth wedding anniversary which was Feb. 11th. Holy communion which he received just a week before his death proved refreshing to him during his last hours. It was then that he re-affirmed in the words of St. Paul in Romans on what he based his hope of eternal life, "Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." May this confession be counted to the joys that are his in heaven. On Tuesday, Feb. 8th, through intense pain he lapsed into unconsciousness, and it seemed as though that day would be his last. But though in an extremely weak condition his life lingered until about 1:30 Saturday afternoon, Feb. 12, when he died at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 2 days. He leaves to mourn, his faithful wife, Emma, and his only daughter, Florence, 11 years old. Others are his father, Jacob Sudol, four sisters, Mrs. Mary Downing of Orient, S. Dak., Mrs. Lottie Miller of Nashua, Mrs. Anna Topel of Monona, Mrs. Lena Wright of Nashua and one brother, Jacob, also of Nashua, besides many near relatives and friends. Two sisters, Mrs. Christina Dummer and Mrs. Emma Wright preceded him in death; also his mother whose death was mourned three years ago. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery. May he rest in the peace of God, our Saviour, Jesus Christ, who shall come again to raise the quick and dead to the resurrection of life eternal. The Nashua Reporter, Nashua, Iowa, February 16, 1938
