Description	:	"PIONEER DROPS DEAD AT HOME Death [illegible] Ranks of Lamoni Business Men Third Time in Six Months" A sudden death which took from Lamoni one of her earliest pioneers and made the third invasion in the business [illegible] of the town in a very short period of time, occurred early ___day morning when Joseph T. Silver passed quickly and quietly away at his home on East Main street. Mr. Silver had been afflicted with heart trouble for about two years, the seriousness of which was not known until about two months ago. The attack which caused his death occurred... Silver passed quickly and quietly away at his home on East Main street. Mr. Silver had been afflicted with heart trouble for about two years, the seriousness of which was not known until about two months ago. The attack which caused his death occurred about [illegible] a.m. Tuesday. His wife and son Clair were with him when he peacefully breathed his last. Joseph Temple Silver, son of Joseph and Emma Silver was born in Salt Lake City, May 16, 1869, and died April 13, 1926. Had he lived until May, he would have been 57 years old. He came with his mother to Lamoni in 1880, when the town was only just started. In a few years, he secured employment with the Herald Publishing company, which was moved here from Plano, Ill, in 1881. With this company, he remained fourteen years. Deceased was married to Flora Annie Mayhew in 1888. To this union were born three children: Howard M. of Leon, Ralph E., and Clair Temple of Lamoni, all of whom will be present at the funeral this afternoon. In 1896 he went into partnership with his father-in-law, E.C. Mayhew, in the restaurant business. After three years the partnership was discontinued at which time he went into business in the same line for himself and has continued ever since. Deceased was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when eight years of age. He served as librarian of the local Sunday school for many years. Silver was kind and considerate in his home, congenial and honorable in his business relations. He will be greatly missed in the old stand where he served Lamoni for so many years. FAMILY NOTES: Joseph Temple Silver's marriage record lists Joseph, Sr. as his father and "Emma Hind" as his mother. Anna Emma (Hind) Silver is listed on the 1870 census as living with Emma (Temple) Silver along with Joseph, Jr. and his sister Ada. Anna Emma (Hind) Silver is listed on that census as the daughter of Emma Temple Silver. Joseph, Sr. is not on that census. Anna Emma Hind was the 2nd "plural" wife of Joseph Silver. His first wife, Emma Temple, couldn't abide by having a plural wife marriage and moved out of his home. When Joseph took on a 3rd wife, Anna Emma Hind left him and moved in with Emma Temple, thus the census. Emma (Temple) Silver continued to raise Joseph, Jr. when Anna Emma (Hind) Silver divorced Joseph and married another man. Emma's Will of 1891 states Joseph T. Silver is her adopted son.
