Huggins,35,business and civic leader of Johnsonville died at 11:45 this morning. Mr. Huggins was a son of Mrs. Leta Carroway Huggins and the late Raymond Bryan Huggins, prominent residents of Johnsonville. He was graduated from Johnsonville High School Class of 1938, after which he entered Clemson College. His College education was interrupted by armed service duties during World War II. In 1943 he entered the service and was separated in 1946 with a rank of Captain. During this tour of duty he was active in the North Africa and European theaters. In 1947 he graduated from Clemson after the war. Mr. Huggins was a past steward of the Johnsonville Methodist Church and was a teacher of the Men's Bible Class for the past two years. He served as Mayor of Johnsonville from 1954 to 1956. He was highly decorated for outstanding service during World War II and Korea and was a member of the Rainbow Unit. He was also the Post Commander for the Johnsonville American Legion. He was married to Mae Witt Huggins and they had 3 children, Dorothy Marie Huggins, Joseph Robert Huggins and Martin Witt Huggins.
