| Description | : | Joseph Thomas Burch was born in Mt Croghan, SC on 26 Jan 1798, the eldest of the eight children of Joseph Burch, Jr and Elizabeth Thomas Burch. He was the grandson of Tristram Thomas, a Revolutionary War general and DAR Patriot. On 4 May 1820, he married Susannah Jackson of Chesterfield County, SC.
