He had been there for several weeks and death was due to complications of old age. Mr. Petra was born on Feb. 8, 1886, in Tama County to Vince and Mary Petra. On Jan. 10, 1910, in Chelsea, he was united in marriage to the former Blanche Novak. After their marriage they farmed west of Clutier and two years later moved to a farm south of Traer where they resided until their retirement seven years ago when they moved to Chelsea. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Karkosh and Mrs. Josephine Kokesh, Traer, and Mrs. Agnes Dvorak, Clutier, and a brother, Chas Petra, Clutier. Funeral services were held from Hrabak Funeral Home, Chelsea, on Friday, May 30, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Alvin II. Boettcher, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Belle Plaine officiating. Mrs. John Kaloupek was organist. Pallbearers were Raymond Eisele, Ernest Kvidera, George Kadrmas, Milo Halupnik, Ludwig Seda and Wm. Dvorak. Those attending the funeral from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Krob, Ely; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Dedic, Center Point; Mrs. Larry Hjelle, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Chas. York, State Center; Mrs. James Gouch, Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Jos. W. Petra, Cedar Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Guyer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hurley and Mrs. Caroline Kolpek, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Strachota, Mr. and Mrs. Robert DeShane and Mrs. Mildred DeShane, Cedar Rapids.
