Daniel, 90, who died Monday evening, May 2, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Holy Spirit church with the Rev. Roger Augustine, V.F., as celebrant. Mr. Daniel owned and operated the J.W. Daniel Electric Company and was chief of the Carroll Fire Department for 26 years before his retirement. Robert S. Bruner will be lector for the mass. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery with military honors by Maurice Dunn Post No. 7, American Legion. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Rosaries will be recited at the funeral home at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday. Mr. Daniel is survived by a sister-in-law, Marie Borchert, Carroll; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on January 22, 1968, a daughter in infancy four brothers and six sisters. Mr. Daniel was born December 8, 1892, at Mount Carmel, a son of Joseph and Margaret Donnley Daniel. He spent his early years in the Mount Carmel area and attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel school. On September 30, 1925, he was married to Hilda Borchert at the former Ss. Peter and Paul church in Carroll by the Rev. Lambert Schenkelberg. After their marriage they lived in their home at 215 East Seventh street in Carroll. After retiring from his appliance shop and electrical contracting business, he repaired small appliances and made lamps at his residence. He joined the Carroll Fire Department in 1916 and rose to chief, a position he held for 26 years. He served overseas in France during World War I. He was a member of Holy Spirit parish and Maurice Dunn Post No. 7, American Legion.
