Description	:	Joseph White McNeil was born October 14, 1878. He was born at the Old Homestead located in the Tabor neighborhood which is northwest of Idana, Clay County, Kansas. He died at his home three miles west of Idana October 18, 1918 at the age of 40 years and 4 days. He contracted the dreaded influenza disease, which soon developed into pneumonia. He was born at the Old Homestead located in the Tabor neighborhood which is northwest of Idana, Clay County, Kansas. He died at his home three miles west of Idana October 18, 1918 at the age of 40 years and 4 days. He contracted the dreaded influenza disease, which soon developed into pneumonia. He suffered just one week before passing away. The funeral was a private one owing to the nature of the disease and sickness among other members of the family. The Presbyterian minister of Miltonvale, Kansas held short services in the yard Sunday at 2:00 P.M. and burial was made in the Lincoln Cemetery, which is south of Clifton, Kansas. On March 13, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Drusilla Garrett, who was born in Osborne County, near Alton, Kansas on November 30, 1884. They were married in the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Garrett, who lived near Morganville, Kansas. To this ideally happy home was born six sons and a little daughter. They are Donald Martin, Wallace Glen, Kenneth Lealand, Harold Delmar, Maurice Delwin, Loren Garrett and Thelma Irene who sadly miss their father's care and thoughtfulness. Besides the immediate family, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Jennie Newton of Canon City, Colorado and six brothers, Edward of the Tabor neighborhood, Charles Garner, Miltonvale, Kansas, David Orr, Robert James, Martin Luther and William John who lives in Oklahoma. The two latter brothers came from out of state for the funeral. His early going in the strength of his young manhood has left a vacancy in our hearts that can never be filled.
