Church. ===================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, January 28, 1932 Josephine E. Buffington was born December 4, 1853, in Monroe county (sic), Ills., and departed this life January 20, 1932, in Cambridge, Ohio. She was united in marriage to Joseph R. Buffington in 1881, coming to Nelson in 1888, where they resided until the death of Dr. Buffington in June, 1925. From this time until the time of her departure she made her home with her daughter. She leaves to mourn her departure one son, Roy, and one daughter, Mrs. Frank E. deBauernfeind, one step-son, Will Q. of Portland, Oregon; five grand children, three brothers, three sisters other relatives and many friends. Early in life she joined the Methodist church (sic), was especially active in Junior League work. In her later years she derived great pleasure working in the Sunday school and Foreign Missionary Society. For 42 years she was a member of the Eastern Star, having served the Nelson Chapter in the capacity of Worthy Matron two years. The funeral was held from the M.E. church (sic) in Nelson Sunday afternoon, the service being conducted by the pastor, W.B. Zimmerman. The Eastern Star also gave the ritualistic ceremony.
