Daughter of Michael Glassinger and Sarah Histy OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, August 8, 1946 JOSEPHINE GLASSINGER DAVIS Josephine Glassinger, daughter of Michael and Sarah Glassinger, was born March 24, 1875, near Iowa City, Johnson county, Iowa, and departed this life at the Yocom hospital in Chariton, July 28, 1946, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 4 days. She was united in marriage November 21, 1893 to Thomas Luther Warbinton, who passed away Aug. 29, 1921. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Mabel Hart, Mrs. Marie Swainey, Everett Warbinton and Mrs. Alice Martin, all of Derby, Iowa. With her family she moved to LUcas county in 1916. On December 9, 1924, she was united in marriage to Charlie B. Davis, who died August 1, 1941. During her early life she affiliated with the Congregational church at Nevinville, Iowa, later transferring her membership to the Last Chance Christian church. She leaves to mourn her passing the above mentioned three daughters and one son, two step-sons, Irvin and Cecil Davis, and two step-daughters, Mrs. Don Dalrymple and Mrs. Fay Throckmorton, six grandchildren, Howard Swainey, Richard Cowan, Mrs. Bernice Gillaspey, Mrs. Beverly Watsabaugh, Mary Louise Hart and Laverne Martin, and two great grandchildren, Gary and David Paul Swainey. She also leaves four sisters: Mrs. Alice Everling, of Nevinville, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Showers, of Creston; Mrs. May Reed, of Kansas, Mrs. Elizabeth Stromp, of Spaulding, Nebr. and four brothers: Guerney, of Derby; John, of Creston; Ben, of Filer, Idaho; and Daniel, of Red Oak; also three sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her from their midst. She was preceded in death in addition to those mentioned, one sister, Mrs. Frances Polser, two brothers, Frank and Herbert Glassinger, one grandson, Charles Cowan, and one son-in-law, William Swainey. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Archie Beals, of Russell, and the Rev. Virgil Swanson, of Chariton, were held Wednesday, July 31, at 2:30 o'clock at the Derby Methodist church. Burial services were at the Humeston cemetery.
