Read More	Josephine Himmelberg, 78, of Lawrence died Monday, April 7, 1980, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Mrs. Himmelberg was a lifelong resident of Lawrence and a member of Sacred Heart Church. Surviving are her husband, John; six sons, Donald, Vernon, Robert, Howard and John, all of Lawrence and Orville of Friend; five daughters, Calleta Robinson of Bloomington, Doris Reck of Dwight, Rita Brock of Littleton, Colorado, Vivian Soucie of Fairfield and Marie Crucitt of Poway, California; two sisters, Hilda Himmelberg of Nelson and Ida Brown of Hastings; three brothers, Edward and Martin Kitten, both of Hastings, and Alvin Kitten of Stratton, Colorado; 44 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10:30 Thursday morning, April 10, at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence with Rev. Peter Gadient officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Merten-Butler Funeral Home of Blue Hill was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, April 17, 1980; pg. 2 ============ Funeral services for Josphine J. Himmelberg were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence Thursday, April 10, 1980, at 10:30. Rev. Peter Gadient officiated at the Mass of the Resurrection and grave side services. Lector was Larry Himmelberg, a grandson. Mass Servers were six grandsons: Chad, Jim, Randy and Gene Himmelberg, Wayne Rech and Brad Brott. Serving as pallbearers were six grandsons: Brian Himmelberg, Pat Himmelberg, Robert Brott, Dave Rech, Paul Soucie and Tom Robinson. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. All the children, spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren were present for the services. Josephine J. Himmelberg was born January 24, 1902, the daughter of John and Clara (Dall) Kitten, on a farm near Lawrence. She passed away April 7 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 14 days after a lingering illness she endured for the last several years. On February 27, 1924, she was united in marriage to John Himmelberg. To this union eleven children were born. Josephine was a life-long resident of Lawrence. She was a loving wife and beloved mother who labored in the care of her family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sacred Heart Altar Society and the Home and School organization. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two grandchildren.
