Sisk, 95, of Miller, South Dakota, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998 at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. The funeral Mass was held Saturday, March 28, 1998 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Miller with the Rev. Donald Molumby officiating. Burial was in the GAR Cemetery, Miller. Josephine Lillian Koc was born December 20, 1902 to Matej and Mary (Skala) Koc on the family homestead in Como Township, Hand County, SD. She was the second youngest of nine children. She attended high school for three years in Ree Heights. Following the deaths of her parents in 1919 and 1920 she moved to Brookings to live with her sister, Anna, and family. She graduated from high school in Brookings and obtained a teacher's certificate. She returned to Hand County where she taught in three different rural schools, including her own home school in Como Township. On June 12, 1929, she was united in marriage to Carl Ray Sisk, son of Chancy & Maude (Haefs), of Miller. They lived the remainder of their lives in Miller where they raised their family of five sons and one daughter. She was a member of St. Annn's Catholic Church, a retired senior volunteer and a correspondent for The Miller Press. She loved to read, enjoyed writing letters and always loved music. At her 95th birthday party, she played the accordion for her relatives and friends. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Bouren of Ree Heights; five sons, Clayton of Miller, Carl of Egan, MN, Frank of Northglenn, CO, Robert and Charles, both of Pierre; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Koc of White Bear Lake, MN, and Gladys Steadman of Rapid City; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1991 and by her five sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers were John, James, Kenneth and Marc Sisk, and Robert Hall and Rick Oligmueller.
