Hall Death has come to one of the highly regarded citizens of our city in the person of Mrs. William Hall who passed to her reward from her late residence last Thursday evening at 6:35 o'clock. Hall Death has come to one of the highly regarded citizens of our city in the person of Mrs. William Hall who passed to her reward from her late residence last Thursday evening at 6:35 o'clock. Mrs. Hall had been in failing health for more than three years. Her affliction was such that she suffered little pain during her protracted illness and her optimistic faith and good cheer were constantly in evidence during the many months which she has been confined to her home. Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. H.G. Wilcox, pastor of the Methodist church at Red Cloud and her former pastor in Nelson, conducted the services assisted by the present minister, Rev. V.R. Beebe. The room containing the bier was one mass of beautiful flowers which came as tributes from her many appreciative friends. The music was provided by the Nelson Male Quartette and was most tenderly comforting and appropriate. The Women's Foreign Missionary society of which she was an honored member, were present in a body, to show their esteem for one whom they loved. The words of comfort brought by the minister was based on the scripture found in Phil. 1:21. "To die is gain" and were a fitting portrayal of her life and character as a Christian and a mother in the home. A large concourse of friends and citizens were present to mutely express their loving esteem for this good women. Josephine Swanson was born in Smoland, Sweden, January 7, 1852, and died January 24, 1924, at the age of 72 years and 17 days. She came to America in September, 1875. She was married in Burlington, Iowa, December 13, 1876, to William Hall, her surviving husband. Mr. and Mrs. Hall moved to Nebraska in the spring the fall (sic) of 1880. She was converted and united with the Baptist church wile young in Sweden. She affiliated with and helped to organize the Evangelical church at Red Line school house west of Nelson in 1887. She also helped to organize the Methodist church in Mt. Clare about two years later she being a charter member. In 1906 the family moved to Nelson and Mrs. Hall transferred her membership to the Methodist church in this place of which she has been a continuous and devoted member. Her parents were Swan and Virginia Anderson. One brother, John A. Swanson, and two sisters, Marie and Mathilda Swanson, have preceded her to the better land. Those living, are: Anna, Augusta and Helena. Those of her immediate family surviving her, are: her husband Wm. Hall and the children, Mrs. Carrie Hudson, Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Hilma Brown, Hastings, Nebr.; Mr. Oscar Hall, Mt. Clare, Nebr.; Mrs Minnie Edwards, Scotts Bluff, Nebr.; Miss Daisy Hall, Nelson, Nebr. One child, Axel died in infancy. There are surviving also fourteen grandchildren. There were in attendance upon the funeral, besides her immediate family, one sister, Mrs. Helena Hindberg (sic), Sutton, Nebr.; ad (sic) her children Elmer Lindberg of Lincoln; Carl Lindberg of Sutton, and Mrs. Myrtle Carper of Lincoln; also her nephews Bert Johnson of Salina, Kansas, and Charles Johnson of Superior, sons of her brother John A.
