Ziegfeld died Saturday, November 23, 1991 while undergoing heart surgery at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was 77. Daughter of Ernest and Anna Lehmann Lipker, Josephine Wilhelmine (Minnie) Lipker was born in Deshler, Nebraska on February 20, 1914. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on March 15, 1914. In 1919 the Lipker family moved to the Holyoke area, where Josephine would spend the rest of her life. She was confirmed on October 9, 1927 at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended school with her two brothers at the Lakeside Country School southwest of Holyoke near the Lipker family farm, and later attended Phillips County High School. On March 1, 1934 she married Adolph F. Ziegfeld. They lived and farmed northwest of Holyoke until the mid-forties, when they moved to Holyoke. She then worked for the Phillips County Telephone Company as an operator, whose voice old-timers will remember as the familiar, "Number, please?" From the mid-fifties, when dial phones took the place of personal operators, until the mid-sixties, Josephine worked at both the First National Bank and Shew's Jewelry. Once retired, she spent her time caring for and being a friend to others in her family and community. She was preceded in death by her father in 1963, her mother in 1970, her brother Clarence in 1973 and her husband in 1981. Josephine is survived by her brother Arnold and Lois Lipker of Holyoke, a niece, a nephew, other relatives and many friends. Officiated by the Rev. Gary A.
