B-14, Dover, Delaware 19901 (Ph. 302-678-0962) 14 December 1990, donated to the Brown County Genealogical Society December 1990, place in the Genealogical Society's Library: My grandfather, JOSIAH, who was born December 8, 1827 and died October 14, 1901, upon reaching his maturity he either purchased or was given part of the family farm. This was probably somewhere between two to three hundred acres and was located along what is now Tracy Road. He built a frame house on a hill overlooking Brown's Run where Tracey Road Bridge is located. The house had a kitchen, dining room, living room and two bedrooms downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. Back of the house was a long building consisting of three rooms. The north room was the wash house with its own fireplace. The middle room was the wood house and it had large doors on each sie so that a team of horses or yoke of oxen could drag a whole log inside. The south end was the smoke house. There was a wonderful spring close to the kitchen door and it was enclosed by a brick building. It had two rooms, one for the open spring and the other a milk house. The spring flowed through shallow troughs and the milk crocks were place in these troughs to keep them cool. The spring water then flowed down the hill to a horse trough. In later years a three room addition was build on top of the spring house. The barn and other farm buildings were at the foot of the hill along Brown's Run. On November 2, 1848, Josiah married LYDIA WRIGHT. Lydia was born July 11, 1830 and died October 6, 1860 of tuberculosis. To this union was born Rebecca Jane 10/14/1849-7/11/1872; Baby 10/18/1851-10/26/1851; Theressa Arabel 5/20/1852-5/16/1875; Laura Agusta 2/10/1857-1/14/1863; Joseph Wright 2/2/1860- 12/28/1862. All the children must have inherited tuberculosis from their mother since they all died at a young age, excepting Rebecca Jane and Theressa Arabel "Bell" who died in their 20's.
