Mrs. Daughrity was gaining strength slowly from the recent illness and hopes of her ultimate recovery had been entertained by the many friends here. Her father, Dr. Casady of Nebraska was called here some time back and assisted in caring for the daughter until her condition was such that no further danger was anticipated and he then returned to the home. The death is a shock to her family and friends, for she was of a lovable disposition. The husband and four children are receiving the heart felt sympathy of our people. - - - - - Josie M. Daughrity, the only daughter of Dr. S.A. and Emma Casady, was born near Cantril, Ia., Sept. 30, 1873, and gave up life's struggle Dec. 7, 1911, having performed nobly the service of daughter, wife and mother all in the short space of 33 years, 2 months and 7 days. She is survived by her husband, Edwin H. Daughrity, her children: Sleman, Catherine, Lawrence and Harry, also her father, who resides in Wallace, Nebraska, her brother Harry W. of Palisade, Nebraska many other relatives and a host of friends who mourn her untimely departure. Her life was such that gives delight to sketch it. Her childhood days were spent in the congenial clime of southern Iowa and northern Missouri and the gladsome days of spring seemed to have put their joy into her sunny life. Here childish joy passed into radiant young womanhood and while attending school in Keosauqua she met "Ed", as her husband always has been familiarly called, and here he won her heart. November, the 26, 1897, she became his bride at her parents home at Cantril and with unusual devotion, began to fill the position of helpmeet. Mrs. Daughrity was naturally religious. She joined the Christian church when a girl and was ever true to the events of Christ's cause. She also belonged to the Eastern Str. She was truly a Martha. In service she found her highest joy. Never strong physically, and of late having greater burdens to bear because of her husband's ill health, she seemed to think that no burden could be too great, for her thought for others was so great that she would go to the relief of any in distress without considering her own ability or obligations but feeling sure that strength would be given for the tasks at hand. During her married life Mrs. Daughrity had three homes, they were Keosauqua, Cantril and one a short distance west of this city. The dark messenger came in the form of intermittent fever a complication of pneumonia. The last sickness was long and severe but she bore it with courage and fortitude, passing the portal at 12:30 o'clock a.m. last Thursday so calmly that Tennyson's words may be most fittingly quoted here: "Sunset and evening bell and after that the dark, And may there be no mourning of farewell When I embark; For, though from this bourne of time and place The flood may bear me far; I hope to see my pilot face to face, When I have crossed the bar.: Funeral services were held at the late home in Keosauqua, Rev.
