Description	:	Josie Hadwiger was born to Louis and Bertha Geisler Unick August 31, 1901 on their homestead in the Pleasant Valley Community. She passed away May 2, 1987 at the St. Lukes Home in Kearney at the age of 85. Josie was the oldest of seven children. She attended the Pleasant Valley School as a child and graduated from Pleasanton High School. After the death of her mother, she returned home to help rear her younger brothers and sisters. She passed away May 2, 1987 at the St. Lukes Home in Kearney at the age of 85. Josie was the oldest of seven children. She attended the Pleasant Valley School as a child and graduated from Pleasanton High School. After the death of her mother, she returned home to help rear her younger brothers and sisters. On September 30, 1924, she married John Hadwiger. They farmed in the Pleasant Valley area until 1942 when they moved to the farm east of Pleasanton. They lived there until the death of John in 1964. Josie then moved into Pleasanton and lived there until 1983 when because of health problems she moved to the St. Lukes Home in Kearney. She is survived by one son , Deane and wife Jan and one daughter, Carol and husband William Phillips all of Pleasanton. Josie is survived by twelve grandchildren: Brenda Janitscheck, Nadine McCaslin, Darryl Hadwiger, Rhonda Obermiller, Gail, Daniel, and Michel Hadwiger; Rick, Mick, Lori, and Ronald Phillips; two great-grandchildren, Brent and Brecky Janitscheck; three brothers, Fred Unick of Pleasanton, and Louis and James Unick of Kearney; a sister Rosanne Dungan of Casper, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brother Ben Unick; and sister Elsie Peterson. Josie was a charter member of the Friendly Neighbors Club, a member of the United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid, where she spent many hours enjoying the fellowship and quilting.
