Read More	STROTHKAMP, JOY ANN—Joy Ann Thomas Strothkamp was born October 2, 1924, in Denver, Colo., to Ross A. Thomas and Mabel F. (Craven) Thomas. She passed away December 8, 2008 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 84 years, two months and six days. When Joy was four years old, the family moved to a farm south of Grafton and in 1934, the family gave up farming because of the depression and moved into Geneva. Joy graduated from Geneva High School in 1941. That fall Joy’s family moved back to Denver, Colo. Joy had met and was dating Don when they left Nebraska. Don went to Denver, Colo., and asked Joy to marry him, and on May 2, 1942, they were married in Geneva. To this union six children were born, David Lee in 1943, Thomas Allen in 1944, Marilyn Joy in 1945, Daryl Ray in 1947, Janet Ann in 1948 and Roger Charles in 1953. Roger died in a car accident in June of 1956. Joy and Don farmed for many for many years. In 1965, Joy and Donald started the Geneva Auto Gro with Don’s brother Kenny and his wife, Marilyn. Joy worked in the greenhouse until she was 62. They sold their greenhouse to their son, Daryl and his wife, Vicki. Joy and Don bought a motor home and spent many winters in Texas and made numerous friends there. Their summers were spent with grandchildren and family, doing yard work and many hours fishing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a member of UMW and a lifelong member of the South Madison Club. Joy was also secretary for School District No. 3. Her greatest love, besides her children, was her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joy is preceded in death by her husband, Donald of 63 years; parents, Ross and Mabel Thomas; brothers, Robert and Richard; sister, Virginia Tannler; son, Roger; grandson, Craig Wilkins and great-grandsons, Chase Wilkins and Devon Shriver. She is survived by her children, David Strothkamp and his wife Pam, Tom Strothkamp and his wife, Delores, Marilyn Strothkamp Saville and her husband, Curt, Daryl Strothkamp and his wife, Vicki; and Janet Strothkamp Wilkins and husband Mike; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Geneva on December 12, with the Rev. Ron Harris officiating. Judy Ackland accompanied Delwin Myers, who sang “Amazing Grace” and “the Old Rugged Cross”. A special recording of “Come to Jesus” was played during the service. Casket bearers were Paul Saville, Joe Strothkamp, Bob Wilkins, Seth Lueck, Logan Fellers, Trevvor Olson and Aaron Strothkamp. Honorary bearers were Barry Wilkins, Justin Shriver and Trent Strothkamp.
