Description	:	Joy M. (Mrs. Louis) Boersma, age 91, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at a care center in Watertown. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood, SD. The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 1:30 p.m. for a prayer service. Rev. Terry Drew will officiate. Music will be provided by Marsha Kurtenbach as organist with congregational singing. Burial will be at the Castlewood Cemetery in Castlewood. Pallbearers will be: Robert Raasch, Gordon Boersma, Rollie Walter, Paul Raasch, Jerry Raasch, Ronnie Raasch, Derek Hoitsma and Shane Hoitsma. Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Monday. Joy was born on January 3, 1923, in Hamlin County, SD, to William and Emma (Krause) Raasch. She graduated from Castlewood High School in 1940 and then attended Watertown Business University for one year. Joy worked for Nash Finch prior to her marriage. On October 1, 1946, Joy married Louis Boersma in rural Castlewood, SD. The couple farmed together in the Castlewood area for most of their lives. They retired in 1992 and moved to Watertown. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the ladies' aid. She was also a member of the Prairie Queens Ladies' Group. Joy enjoyed playing piano and cards and baking cookies. Joy is survived by her husband, Louis, and one daughter, Joan Boersma, both of Watertown; one brother-in-law, Junior (Berdene) Boersma, of Goodwin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Earl and Vern.
